Highlighting for a quick facial pick-me-up

Highlighting is a simple beauty trickhighlighting strobing

Whether you use the term highlighting or strobing the effect can be ethereal and act as a quick facial pick-me-up.  Imagine something as simple as a touch of highlighter here and there to bring your skin from dull to dynamic within a matter of minutes.  Not to mention give you a more awake appearance overall.  This application can be done with any medium but, of course, I love the simplicity of using the AirPro Airbrush.  In doing so you can choose to highlight without shimmer for a more matte look using a foundation shade 2 tones lighter than your skin tone.

To add a healthy glow use a product with a subtle shimmer such as AirPro’s highlighter in Champagne Shimmer which is an excellent choice for both fair and dark complexions.  Whichever product you choose the key is subtlety -especially if you live in a humid climate or have oily skin.  Look for products with a very fine mica pigment such as LORAC Cosmetics Light Source Highlighter.  Another favorite of mine is Makeup Forever Star Powder available in a wide range of shades.

Highlighting tips

The key to successful highlighting is to only use in the areas to be “brought forward” not as an overall coverage or the effect will be an oily mess. Either before, after or as the only part of your beauty routine apply a touch of highlighter on cheekbones and brow bones. Applying a touch at the inner corner of your eyes will create openness and depth.  If you’d like fuller lips (and who doesn’t?) apply just above cupids bow.  And to make your nose look narrower run down the length.  Add a dab to your chin to bring is forward.  This is the simplicity of highlighting.   With a few swipes of your airbrush or brush you have created depth and dimension without the need of contouring. Highlighting projects flattering angles sure to draw attention!

So next time you’re looking for a quick facial pick-me-up try this simple beauty step and say hello to the dazzling, multi-dimensional you!
